Vivian Yong, Executive Creative Director, W+K Shanghai

Born and raised in Hong Kong the east-meet-west melting pot, Vivian speaks three languages and has always been adventurous and passionate in her career. She began as a copywriter in 1999 at M&C Saatchi, Ogilvy, and McCann Erickson but her interest and sensitivity in cultural difference has then driven her to London to become a cultural studies post-graduate and a writer on the UK art and culture for the post-colonial Hong Kong readers before joining W+K Shanghai in 2012. She stepped up to be Executive Creative Director of W+K Shanghai in 2017.

With her multi-cultural background, she has created integrated brand ideas for Nike, BMW, Ikea & Airbnb bringing the brand value of these international brands to live and making them relevant to the Chinese audience. At the same time, she has also created successful China-based campaigns for Tiffany, Levi’s and Oppo that were adapted to global markets.

Being one of the few women leaders in the industry also inspires her to encourage and nurture more woman creatives to lean in and step up in their career path, as well as driving campaigns and internal projects that empower women in China.
