Vervroegen began his career as an art director in Belgium. Having been crowned the best creative director in Belgium for several consecutive years, he opted for a challenge and moved to TBWA\Hunt\Lascaris in South Africa where he received a slew of awards. In 2002, he became executive creative director at TBWA\Paris, and the next year was appointed president. During his reign, the agency won 70 Cannes lions and numerous other awards. Vervroegen has been voted best creative director in France for four years running, and in 2006, TBWA\Paris was voted Agency of The Year at Cannes for the fourth year running. He has recently joined Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, in San Francisco.
