José is the Co-Founder and Co-Chief Creative Officer of la comunidad, which he began with his brother, Joaquín, in 2001. After just two years, the agency was ranked the 13th most awarded agency in the world and today still holds a steady 16th ranking according to the Gunn Report of 2008.
Before opening la comunidad in Miami, José was Creative Director at Wieden+Kennedy in Portland, Oregon for five years, working mainly on the Nike International account (Canada, Australia and Latin America). He created successful regional campaigns for Nike in Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia, Chile and Argentina. José’s work for Nike International, Coca-Cola, Miller beer, Powerbar, 800.com and the Indy Racing League (U.S. domestic market) also led him to work in Wieden’s Amsterdam and London offices.
Prior to joining Wieden+Kenedy, he worked at Ratto/BBDo (Argentina) as a Writer and Creative Director. Local and regional clients included Volkswagen, Bayer, Frito-Lay, MasterCard, Fedex and Pepsi. Under José’s leadership Ratto/BBDO won more awards than any other Argentinean agency and was named “Agency of the Year” for 1996.
José has been invited to judge several awards such as Cannes, Clios, The One Show, D&Ads, ANDYS, Art Directors Club, NY Festivals, London Festival, etc.
His work has been internationally recognized and he is also member of the Board of Directors of The One Club.
During his spare time, José enjoys kit surfing off Miami’s South Beach.
